Have You Wondered How Much Bollywood Singers Earn?

If someone says singing won’t get you anything, these singers are definitely proving the myth wrong!

We have been listening to them for years and it’s their soothing voice that has been with us. Our movies are incomplete without them.

A.R. Rahman

The less we say about him, the more it echoes out. He is the most versatile singer and composer India ever had. A.R. Rahman is a composer, singer-songwriter, music producer, musician and philanthropist. He has won two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards, fifteen Filmfare Awards and sixteen Filmfare Awards South.

Whether it’s his songs or his music, it transcends us to another place itself. He is still the most humble and down to earth celebrity. He earns 1.5- 2 crores per movie. (Indicating that all the songs in the movie would be his)

Armaan Malik and Amaal Malik

The nephews of Anu Mallik, Armaan and Amaal have earned their popularity quite easily. Armaan Mallik was the finalist for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa challenge and since then there has been no stopping him. At 21, has sung for quite a few movies and often does live shows. He earns around 40 lakhs from singing in movies.

Anyone who listens to Bollywood songs knows Arijit Singh. He is the leading male playback singer working today.  Arijit shot to fame with his romantic rendition ‘Tum Hi Ho’ from ‘Aashiqui 2’. The song was such an overnight hit and suddenly he became everyone’s favourite. But very few know that for many years before his breakthrough song, Arijit assisted many noted music composers like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Pritam Chakraborty, Vishal-Shekhar and Mithoon as a music programmer.

Currently, the singer charges nearly Rs. 15-20 lakhs for one song in a film.

It’s a pleasure to have lived in the same era as Sonu Nigam. He is the most versatile and talented singer in India. He has given his mesmerizing voice to thousands of songs in various languages. National award winner, Sonu has millions of fans across the world.

He has been the voice of all stars of the current generation – from Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan to Aamir Khan. The singer currently charges around Rs. 10 lakhs for a Bollywood song.

She has been in the industry for more than 15 years and still, her popularity hasn’t gone down. She is still the most sought-after female voice in the industry. In fact, Microsoft hired Sunidhi Chauhan to sing the “Windows Vista Song” titled Wow is Now.

She charges around Rs. 12 to Rs. 15 lakhs per song.

Mohit Chauhan

He is one of the most soulful singer. His songs will make you forget everything else. His songs ‘Khoon Chala’ and ‘Masakali’ from the films ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Delhi-6’ were huge hits. ‘Tum Se Hi’ from the film ‘Jab We Met’ is still considered the most romantic song. Since his humble beginning in the industry, Sukhwinder has sung for a number of memorable films including ‘Taal’, ‘Chak de! India’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Black’. Atif Aslam

His voice is ethereal. It is utterly unique and so beautiful that you have to- have to pause everything and listen to him. While he is from Pakistan, he has won hearts of millions in India. He got his first breakthrough in Bollywood when Mahesh Bhatt called Aslam to sing “Woh Lamhey” in for Zeher and since then, Atif hasn’t looked back. He has sung for quite a lot of Bollywood films, has sung covers of the classic songs and for me, he is one of the best in the soulful/Sufi genre. He is being paid Rs. 9 Lakh for a song.
