Whatsapp Released The Number Of Texts People Sent On New Years And Indians Are Leading

Gone are the days when people would meet in person during the festive season and convey their wishes to their loved ones.

Forget meeting people, we don’t even want to make phonic conversations anymore. We are the texting generation and how miserable our lives would be without this brilliant app called ‘WhatsApp’.

The company revealed that 75 billion texts were sent through WhatsApp on Nea Year’s Eve and well, 20 billion were from India. Wow, we sure do love this app, don’t we?

Last year, a total of 63 billion messages were sent globally on Whatsapp. Looks like forwarded messages have a bigger reach now.

WhatsApp has more than 1 billion users across the globe, and from them, 200 million users are from India. The app was so overused on New Year’s that it suffered an outage for more than 1 hour on 31st and 1st January.

The data also reveals that out of 75 billion messages sent, about 5 billion were videos and you’d be amused to know that the recorded data is only between 12:00 am to 11:59 pm PST on December 31.

Last year was equally exciting for WhatsApp as they launched a couple of updates making the app more user-friendly and interactive. The ‘delete message’ feature was something we’d been waiting for quite a long time. The ‘all-new status’ and live sharing update certainly made the app more engaging.

Users all across the globe now have bigger expectations for this social networking company and we are pretty excited about the fact that WhatsApp is testing new services and businesses in India. Companies like BookMyShow, MakeMyTrip, and Netflix have already partnered with WhatsApp.

We can’t wait for more exciting features from WhatsApp, can you? Let us know excited you are in the comment section!
