Virat Kohli Becomes The World’s 7th Most Valuable Sportsman, Still Behind Federer And Ronaldo

Virat Kohli is a man of many achievements and never stops giving us reasons to be proud of him. On Wednesday, the Captain of the Indian cricket team gave us yet another, ranking seventh on Forbes list of the ‘World’s Most Valuable Sports Brands.’

Known for his aggressive brand of cricket, Kohli has been having a great run on the pitch recently and is currently one of the best batsmen in the world.

He’s only a few wins behind Sachin Tendulkar in ODI centuries and continues to break records every time he steps on the pitch. The 28-year-old Indian skipper was even described as an “Indian cricket phenom” by Forbes.

It comes as no surprise then, that he made it to the list and is the only Indian sportsperson to do so. With a brand value of $14.5 million, Forbes quoted him as having “one of the sports world’s most impressive sponsorships portfolios”.

It’s also particularly interesting to note that his brand value was ranked higher than Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, who came in at 9th with a brand value of $13.5m. Tennis ace Roger Federer came in first with a value of $37.2 million.

Here are the Top 10 on the list:

1. Roger Federer $37.2m
2. LeBron James $33.4m
3. Usain Bolt $27m
4. Cristiano Ronaldo $21.5m
5. Phil Mickelson $19.6m
6. Tiger Woods $16.6m
7. Virat Kohli $14.5m
8. Rory McIlroy $13.6m
9. Lionel Messi $13.5m
10. Steph Curry $13.4m

Kohli has also made it another Forbes list, ranking 89th among ‘The World’s Highest Paid Athletes’ of 2017.
