While all the speculation around the cricketer Virat Kohli wedding with actress Anushka Sharma‘s wedding were going on, there was a rumour about the place. The couple has chosen a luxury heritage resort in Tuscany called Borgo Finocchieto.
It is a 700-year-old resort and it lies in the scenic hills of Tuscany. The venue was actually a 14th-century village, which was renovated for eight years. The resort has five villas, which can accommodate approximately 44 people and has 22 rooms. (They wanted their wedding to be a private affair and did so, so beautifully)
The villa only has 22 suites and is apparently the second most expensive holiday rental in the world, especially in the month of December.
The area encompassing the resort has Amenities such as a swimming pool, tennis courts and a spa, among other things, are available besides the unparallel view of nature’s beauty. Besides other amenities, guests can indulge in delectable food and wine.
The current owner purchased the property in 2001 and has reportedly spent about eight years restoring it. The village also assumed historical importance as it was earlier located on the Via Francigena, the road medieval pilgrims took to reach Rome from Canterbury around 800 years ago.
According to a list by Forbes, Borgo Finocchieto is the second most expensive rental in the world in the month of December. One week at the Borgo Finocchieto costs at least Rs 1 crore. The rates range from Rs 6,50,000 to 14,00,000 per night. The resort also has the distinction of hosting former US President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama in May this year.
