As Tiger Breaks Records, Here Are 15 Salman Khan Films That Never Got Released
When it comes to Bollywood, the name that is synonymous with the industry is Salman Khan. Salman is the only Bollywood star to have his 10 films earn more than Rs 100 crores in a row. It is almost certain that Bhaijan has made himself into a whole genre altogether. No matter what controversies he has faced, his fans love him. Recently, when ‘Tiger Zinda Hai‘ was released, 1000s of people gathered and waited to see his movie on the first day itself. But there are some films that he signed that never made it to the theatres.
Here are 15 Salman Khan films that never made it to the theatres.
1. Ran Kshetra
After the classic romantic movie that ruled the heart of the nation, his fans wanted to see more of the Maine Pyaar Kiya duo Salman and Bhagyasree together as an onscreen couple. So, naturally they were signed and paired together for Ran Kshetra, but unfortunately, Bhagyashree got married and the film got stalled. It was ultimately shelved.
2. Dil Hai Tumhara
Rajkumar Santoshi in 1991 had teamed up with Salman Khan, Sunny Deol and Meenakshi Seshadri. An official announcement was made in October 1991 but the film never got made then. The producers kept backing out. Around the same time, Rajkumar signed up another film, Barsaat and therefore this movie took a back seat and then finally was shelved. (Source)
Since Dil Hai Tumhara got shelved, Salman was given Gherao to make up for the lost project. The movie was supposed to be starred by Salman and Manisha Koirala. Rajkumar Santoshi was the director yet again. But sadly, this project one did not even make it to its first day of shooting and was shelved soon after the mahurat.
4. No Entry Mein Entry
No Entry was a huge hit and the directors were planning to make a sequel to it. In fact, the end scenes of the movie even hinted about it. But it has been more than a decade and nothing has come as of now. It is being rumoured that the director is ready to make the sequel and have a script ready too but Salman Bhai hasn’t given his dates till now. (Source)
Salman had completed 80% of the shooting for this movie with Somi Ali. It was rumoured that he was dating her back then. But the project got shelved for reasons unknown. It is also said that Hrithik Roshan‘s Kaabil is a remake of Buland. Both of the movies have a same storyline and plot. (Source)
6. Chori Mera Naam
This movie had star cast including Suniel Shetty, Shilpa Shetty, and Kajol alongside Salman. At that time it had created a lot of buzzes and was nearly halfway through shooting. But the movie was shelved for unknown reasons but a stunt from the film by Salman and Sunil was used as a Thumbs Up commercial.
It was first Sohail Khan’s film as a director in 1994. The film was produced by Monsoor Siddique and nearly half of the movie was shot. But soon the movie went under production issues as there was a quarrel between Sohail and Mansoor. Due to a conflict, the film got delayed and was later shelved. Then Salman decided to produce the movie under their home banner but the project never took off after that. The film starred Salman, Anil Kapoor and Pooja Bhatt.
8. Raju Raja Ram
The film was being directed by David Dhawan and had star cast including Salman, Govinda and Jackie Shroff. The film got delayed due to Manisha Koirala and Salman Khan’s war and Govinda also did not give proper dates. Soon the production house went into a financial crunch and the project was called off. In 2006, Deepak Tijori made the film Tom Dick and Harry with the storyline of this film. (Source)
Before Dus released in 2005, there was another movie back in 1997, by the same name. Starring, Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon, the movie was 80 percent complete, when the director of the film Mukul Anand, suddenly passed away due to a heart attack.
The songs and the promos of the film had already begun airing on television by then. (Source)
10. Aye Mere Dost
This movie that star cast including Arbaaz, Divya Bharti, Karisma Kapoor and Salman Khan. They had begun with a song recording but nothing really happened after that. The song was later used for another Salman Khan film, Majhdhar in 1996.
11. Aankh Micholi
Soon after the successful hit Judwaa in 1997, Salman had signed up in an Anees Bazmi film for another double role. But soon, the Judwa actor had reservations as Salman didn’t want to do one more double role soon after Judwaa. The rumour is, Bazmee is using the same script for his No Entry Mein Entry. 12. Sagar Se Gehra Pyaar
This movie had Raveena Tandon and Salman Khan. The movie title got announced but nothing much happened thereafter and it never got made.
The film starred Sangeeta Bijlani and Nagma and nothing else happened except the announcement of the project.
This is a different Jalwa than what you’re thinking. The 1998 action film had Sanjay, Armaan Kohli and Salman. But then director Ketan Dhawan decided to make a family film and thus he called off this project.
After Garv, Puneet Issar started two new films with Salman Khan, He-Man and Tabeer – When Dreams Come True. Both films did not go beyond the announcement. (Source)
