10 Unreal Facts Behind Padmavati’s Story That You Didn’t Know
Historical movies are allowed to take certain licenses. Some, like Padmavati, might have to take more than others.
Not because the main plot of the movie is difficult to grasp or anything. But also because the details of how we get to the movie’s main conflict at the siege of Chittor are little wonky. Because having Deepika Padukone have a long conversation with a talking parrot.
But these facts feel a little childish for the epic vibe that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is going for so naturally, they might not make it to the movie. Also, Padmavati’s epic has been retold and repackaged multiple times. Some historians can’t even agree on whether she existed.
But the main tellings come from Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s Padmavat and Hemratan’s Gora Badal Padmini Chaupai. They differ in the sense that the first feels more like a fairytale with a tragic ending and the second, a more historical account.
But since neither can be conclusively proven there’s a healthy amount of room for interpretation.
