Of All Things In Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor Excites Me The Most About This Movie

Okay, don’t get me wrong. I am a major fan of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his works. I have watched all of his movies and I can’t help but notice those deep hidden layers behind music or motifs. For me, he is one of the best directors we have got. He gets immensely involved in his projects and demands nothing less than perfection.
Who doesn’t get inspired by him? I do, for sure.
But coming back to the topic, while I am so excited and interested in the movie that I have been constantly talking about it; I can’t help but notice how Shahid is not getting his due recognition in the build-up to this movie.
We have seen Shahid in various roles since he debuted. We have seen him grow from the chocolate boy image to a more serious matured actor.
He has done diverse roles and his portrayal of Maharana Ratan Singh is the one I really want to watch!
Throughout the promotion, I have seen people, and critics alike; praising Deepika and Ranveer for their respective roles in Padmavati but no one really did talk much about Shahid.
It seems like this movie has brought the best of the three actors. While we have seen Deepika work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali before, as a princess and as a brave Gujarati woman, this is the first time we have caught a glimpse of her as a royal Queen.
Ranveer Singh is known for his versatile roles in each of his films. From time and again we have seen him grow into his character and this one seems as no exception. He is as precise and perfect as the said director.
But when I saw the trailer and the latest song, ‘Ek Dil Ek Jaan’, I couldn’t help but notice how much Shahid Kapoor is being underappreciated for this mammoth role.
I have grown watching Ranveer and Deepika romance on screen. Their on-screen chemistry is beyond fabulous. But since it’s their third movie together, I wanted something more or different. Maybe that’s what the director thought. I love how this time Shahid and Deepika are paired together.
More than anything, I love their chemistry. Throughout the trailer and the songs, we see their love story bloom. We don’t see any big romantic gestures but their love story which is simply told by their eyes. The stare, the shy smile, the intense look, the longing and sorrow are just shown to us in 3 minutes.
In Ek Dil Ek Jaan, I could see how perfectly Shahid moulds into the role. Like a Rajputana maharaja, he not only developed his physique but also the mannerisms.
The postures of the king to the way he expresses himself. To me, it’s poetic the way Ratan Singh explores his raw emotions while adorning a brave face, almost as if it was as if Shahid was a Maharana!
The more I see the videos, the more engulfed I get into their story. I am truly inquisitive with the way the actor has played the role in the movie. It seems that I can’t get enough of him and I need to see Maharana more.
Right now, for me, 1st December seems a long time!
