Padmavati Artwork Allegedly Destroyed By Protestors Chanting “Jai Sri Ram”

Such is the craze of ‘Padmavati’ that even before its release a Surat-based artist took 48 hours to create a ‘Deepika Padukone’ rangoli which was unfortunately destroyed the protestors. Surat-based Karan K was taken aback when all his hard work and patience was rubbed out by protestors who barged in screaming ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and wiped out the entire rangoli design.

Karan had worked really hard to create a beautiful rangoli of Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’.

His hard work and efforts were destroyed completely by vandals who were protesting against the release of the movie.

Karan K took to Twitter and shared a picture of his rangoli along with the pictures that clearly show all this work being erased and rubbed, ruining the design completely.  “#Padmavati Rangoli Controversy! A crowd of 100 people cried JAY SRI RAM AND rubbed out my 48hrs’ intense work! Shocked,” he tweeted.

As the design was being made in a mall, Karan has also shared a letter addressed to the mall management by the staff stating that rangoli designs of ‘Padmavati’ will not be carried out henceforth.

The movie has been controversy’s favorite child even before the trailer was released and prior to this incident, there have been numerous incidents of the sets being attacked by protesters. Shri Rajput Karni Sena, a part of the Rajput Community, believes that the movie is tampering with this historical facts and hence are against the release of the movie. They have accused Sanjay Leela Bhansali of portraying Raani Padmavati in a wrong way and have previously also burnt posters show their disapproval.

“While shooting in Jaipur, Sanjay Leela Bhansali (the director) had promised to show the film to us and historians before releasing it. But since then, no one has contacted us, nor has the film been shown to us,” Narain Singh Divrala, the district president of Karni Sena, told news agency IANS

Bhansali’s story revolves around Rani Padmini, who performed Jauhar with several other Rajput women when their fort was invaded by Alauddin Khilji. The movie is all set to hit the theatres on December 1st!
