Designing Shahid’s Costumes For Padmavati Wasn’t Easy; Here’s What The Designers Have To Say!
So far two posters from the much awaited ‘Padmavati’ have been released on the internet and the world couldn’t get crazier. Deepika looks stunning as ever as Rani Padmani and Shahid’s look has left people awestruck. He manages to perfectly get into the character of Maharwal Ratan Singh and we can only imagine the kind of effort that must have gone into making their costumes.
Designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula mentioned how tedious it was for them to make sure that Shahid’s costumes do justice to the character. There has been a lot of research that has gone into making sure that Shahid looks just like Maharwal Ratan Singh.
“We sourced organic fabrics from Rajasthan that were then embroidered by hand by 22 local artisans. We have stuck to pure muslin cloth as the base, and then used vegetable dye or hand dye. While we tried to use hues that are associated with masculinity, we also had to balance it with brighter colours, since Rajasthani outfits are all about colour at the end of the day.”
Harpreet also further added that it took the two of them 4 months on constantly traveling to museums of Jaipur and Ahmedabad to design the perfect look.
Rimple also spoke about her experience while working with Deepika who she believes is the perfect actress for ‘Padmavati’. Here’s what Rimple had to say about Deepika, “This is the first time we worked with her and her inputs were welcome. She’s the epitome of beauty and I can’t think of anyone else in this role. In fact, the simpler the garment, the better she looks. She’s so amazing and easy to work with. I have become a true fan of hers as she gives her 100 percent and also has immense patience to give designers the time and opportunity to correct the outfit.”
The movie is all set to hit the theatres on 1st December and we honestly can’t wait for it. The posters look brilliant and we are eagerly waiting for Ranveer’s look from the movie.
