11 Places Other Than The Bermuda Triangle Where Things Disappeared Without An Explanation

The Bermuda Triangle is one of those mysterious places on Earth where planes and ships have been disappearing without a trace.

Though science has tried to come up with an explanation, little do we know, that the Bermuda Triangle is just one of 12 eerie locations on Earth with inexplicable disappearances associated with them.

These places are known as Vile Vertices, discovered by Ivan Sanderson, as they form a creepy star-shaped pattern when laid on a map of the earth. He wrote about, The Twelve Devil’s Graveyards Around the World, in 1972 in a piece for Saga magazine.

These are known to have accounted for abnormal disappearances, beyond explanations. Here are the other 11 vile vertices, not known to common man!

1. Bermuda Triangle

It is a loosely defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean, forming a triangle between Florida, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. Ships and planes have been disappearing here after experiencing strange instrument malfunctions, sudden electromagnetic storms, disorientation, and even time loss.

2. Easter Islands

A volcano Island stands out of the southern Pacific ocean with giant stone statues, also known as the Easter Island statues. The stone head statues are also called  Moai, with characteristic large heads on small bodies. Some people believe that these statues might have been transported by alien spaceships, but science is still trying to come up with an explanation.

3. Mohenjo-Daro

The Indus valley civilization is thought to have been the root of Hinduism.

During excavations, archaeologists found scattered corpses of at least 40 people. Historians are also surprised by the sudden extinction of the civilization, despite being right next to a water source.  Given that the area lies on one of the 12 vertices, it is said that there is definitely some dark power attached to the location.

4. Hamakulia, Hawaii

Located on the coast of Hawaii, this is location is known for mysterious disappearances that scientists owe to the volcano at Hamakulia.  However, locals claim to see constant mysterious lights around the volcano. The area is also prone to piezomagnetic effects, which means that magnetization of rocks and strange electrical energy could be flowing throughout the region.

5. Devil’s Sea

To the south of Tokyo, is another vile vertex, the Devil’s Sea. The Japanese take the sea very seriously and references to it can be found throughout Chinese history. Ships still vanish in the sea, most recent being the research vessel Kaio Maru No. 5, sent in 1952.

All 31 members and the ship went missing and the Japanese government declared the sea to be unsafe for research ships and transporting.

6. The Wharton Basin

Located on the northeastern side of the Indian Ocean lies the Wharton Basin, at the floor of which are deep fractures and tectonic plates meet. Due to this the area has quite a lot of seismic activity and is largely unexplored.

The area is considered to be the possible resting space for MH370 that vanished in 2014.

7. Megaliths Of Zimbabwe

Ruins always have an eerie interest attached to them but the Megalithic of Zimbabwe have their own eerie charm. They are considered to be one of the major reason for the planes that disappear over the Sahara Desert. Whether there is some fault line underground or the mineral composition of the place, scientists are yet to find an answer.

8. New Hebrides Trench

Perched between the islands of Vanuatu and New Caledonia, the trench boasts a depth of 25,000 ft and we still don’t know what goes on down there.

9.  South Atlantic Anomaly

The area is very special for NASA researchers and is said to be the Bermuda Triangle of space. Scientifically, this place has the weakest magnetic field and has a higher influx of energetic particles.

Satellites who go through this belt have suffered malfunctions and glitches, astronauts claim to have seen mysterious shooting star lights from here.

10. The Loyalty Islands

Located on the east coast of Australia, this area is known for its mood-changing sea currents, whirlpools, and sea storms.

Not a very friendly a place for sailors, an island that was once a part of the world map is said to have completely vanished now.

11. The North Pole

The north pole of the earth is itself a mysterious place with your compasses going crazy in the area. Expeditions that have left for north pole were often known to go missing. Whether it was just the extreme weather or something else, we are yet to discover.

12. The South Pole

This area has a population of around 4000 people, most of them being researchers, but the area has been a place for sinister activities for a long time. Because of the harsh weather, not a lot has been researched in these areas.

Are these the outcome of magnetic fields playing around or do they have a connection with a parallel universe? Hope we find that soon. Till then, let’s back to watching Stranger Things, people!
