Sholay was one of the longest-running Bollywood movies and was shown in the theaters for about 5 years. No doubt it sold up to 5,52,34,000 tickets at the stand. The magic weaved by the movie is evident even today and the dialogues remain evergreen!
Now that we are making a list of the most ticket-selling movies, it is impossible to not include SS Rajamouli’ Baahubali. The movie definitely qualifies as one of the best of 2017 and managed to sell 5,40,43,000 tickets in India and abroad.
The movie was a perfect combination of drama and romance. It captured the story of both countries after the partition and became a popular household name in the country. With some of the most epic dialogues by Sunny Deol, the movie managed to sell 5,09,54,000 tickets on the stand.
A movie that defined romance and managed to stay in the theaters for over 20 years had to make it to this list. The movie has a major fan following even today and had managed to witness selling of 4,80,89,000 tickets at the stand. Didn’t we all want our own ‘Raj and Simran’ after the movie?
6) Raja Hindustani
The movie managed to be the biggest blockbuster of 1996 and gave us music that we find ourselves humming even today. The movie sold a huge number of tickets, 4,09,56,000 to be precise.
The movie managed to wake the patriot in every Indian and witnessed the sale of 3,70,21,000 tickets. It is still considered to be one of the most iconic movies ever made and the music hasn’t aged either.
Aamir Khan’s attempt to bring the story of a seasoned wrestler and his daughters proved to be extremely successful. The movie sold about 3,69,32,000 tickets and still continues to weave its magic in China.
With a star cast that included the best of Bollywood, the movie gained immense popularity amongst the youth back then and turned out to be a blockbuster. It sold around 3,56,11,000 tickets at the Box office.
Kabir Khan’s Bajrangi Bhaijaan showed us some beautiful locations along with a brilliant storyline. Released at the perfect time with Salman Khan in the lead, the movie sold a whopping 3,54,12,000 tickets at the Box office.
