Throwback To When Karan Johar Tried To Recreate Kuch Kuch Hota Hai With A Sci Fi Twist
So 19 years ago, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ taught us that pyaar dosti hai.
Almost two decades ago, we understood that kuch kuch hota hai and we all have a Rahul who doesn’t understand. And we still can’t get over the fact that Anjali chose Rahul over Aman. All said and done, we can still manage to watch the movie even today.
The iconic movie was turned into an animated one in 2009, the movie’s promo was released with ‘My Name Is Khan’. The reason why it never hit the theatres is reportedly this:
“Karan and Tarun started going slow on the film after the Saif-Kareena Yash Raj animation film Roadside Romeo bit the dust. The market for animation films in India has still not picked up, it’s good only on the mythological front.
A buzz around the film will have to be created so that there is scope for this animated version, and only then, Karan and Tarun will go ahead with the film.”
The movie had the same starcast, well almost. The three leads were the same but here’s what was different all of them were cute dogs, there was a chicken, a fox, a bear and almost all of the zoo basically. The dubbing was done by the original trio, Riteish Deshmukh, Simi Grewal, Anupam Kher, Uday Chopra, Sajid Khan and Sanjay Dutt.
What’s different, you ask? Looks like there is a time machine that Anjy (Rahul’s daughter uses) to go back in time. It also looked like Sanju Baba was stepping into Salman Khan’s shoes in this one.

While we want to know why it didn’t release, we are re-watching Kuch Kuch Hota Hai today. What about you?
