People Noticed That McDonald’s Food Costs The Same Despite GST Rate Cut

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented in order to make eating out more convenient and affordable for the people but looks like it’s definitely not serving the purpose.

The bill was brought to action on July 1st and apart from restaurants, tax rates for 200 items were also slashed. The consumers were hoping that the prices will go considerably low as the companies had promised that they’d pass on the rate cut to the customers. However, customers soon realized that nothing of this sort has happened and the prices have not gone down low at all.

People took to Twitter and shared their bills from Mcdonald’s before and after the implementation of GST with the price being exactly the same.

Here’s what Twitter has to say about people not being benefited with GST.

McDonald’s India justified their act by mentioning that their cost prices have gone higher as the Government has removed Input Tax Credit. They also stated that the prices have been revised in such a way that the total amount does not go higher than the previous total amount before GST.

However, people do not seem to be convinced of the reason that McDonald’s India gave them. What do you think about all of this? Share your views with us in the comment section!
