Elon Musk Just Sent A Sportscar Into Space And Streamed It, Because B.A.D.A.S.S.

Elon Musk is what happens when a supervillain decides to use his powers for good instead of evil.

For a man behind revolutionary companies like PayPal, Tesla Motors and The Boring Company, Musk’s most infamous venture has to be SpaceX. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s a private Amercian Aerospace manufacturer, trying to reduce the cost of space travel and colonise Mars over a period of time.

And if all that sounds a little crazy, it is. But not as crazy as this next thing.

The man sent a sportscar to space. Presumably for the lulz.

SpaceX’s first big rocket named The Falcon Heavy had its first launch this Tuesday, and so far is being hailed as a huge success. The newer rocket was designed to launch super satellites and other equipment to the moon.

And for the test flight, he sent what was probably the coolest thing he could think of. A Tesla produced sports car.

No details were spared. The car even had a space suit at the driver’s seat named “Starman” after the famous David Bowie song. Commenting on the same, Musk said –

“It’s kind of silly and fun, but I think that silly and fun things are important. The imagery of it is something that’s going to get people excited around the world.”

He also talked about the level of risk involved with the launch –

“I had this image of just a giant explosion on the pad, a wheel bouncing down the road, the Tesla logo landing somewhere…But fortunately, that’s not what happened.”

Considering the man’s popularity on the internet it’s no wonder that netizens across the globe went gaga over SpaceX’s latest achievement. And with the internet comes Twitter and its resident host of commentators.

The car was initially intended ot be carried in a way as to put it in the trajectory of Mars’ orbit. But having overshot slightly, is more in the line of an asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
