If You’re An Indian Football Fan, Then This Podcast Dedicated To The U17 World Cup Is For You!

‘Some say football is a matter of life and death. I assure you it’s much more than that.’

When Liverpool legend Bill Shankly said these golden words, he wasn’t fooling around. He knew the depth of his words and he couldn’t have been more apt. Football truly is not a sport, it is a way of life. It is passion, it is glory.

But sadly, fans of this beautiful game here in India have not had access to a lot of communication and conversations about the game. For instance, in Europe and South America, there a numerous shows, channels, websites, and podcasts dedicated to football. Every match is micro analysed by experts and fans. In India, all we had was live broadcasts of the matches, and even that wouldn’t be available if a cricket match was going on.

All of that, however, is about to change, as we now have a podcast dedicated to the ongoing U17 World Cup. Titled ‘Football Fanzine’, a fun take on the football World Cup, which, for the first time ever, is being held in India, and for the first time ever, has an Indian U17 team playing!

Joy Bhattacharya, the man responsible for this iconic event taking place in India, is also a part of a few episodes in the podcast, which is hosted by part-time football fans and full time funny guys Atishay and Dhruv. Mr. Bhattacharya, who is the Director of the U17 World Cup, gives insights about the game, how it’s taking shape in India, and the way forward. He also talks about how difficult it was for him to organise this tournament in India.
