India Defeats New Zealand In The Most Exciting T20 Match In Recent Memory

As fate would have it, the third and deciding T20 match between India and New Zealand was reduced to 8 overs a side, courtesy: magical creatures in the sky.

In a crucial toss, the New Zealand captain, Kane Williamson, offered the Indian team to bat first. On a damp moist wicket that yielded spin and movement for the bowlers, Indian batsmen did all they could to stack up a respectable total while falling like a house of cards.

Before Indian batsmen could manufacture a meaningful partnership, slog overs had begun. Occasional boundaries and some good running between the wicket helped the team to score 67 runs in 8 overs. Yes, the comparison with gully cricket is valid.

After total dominance by the New Zealand team in the first innings, it was time for  Indian bowlers to spin their way to the New Zealand batting line up. A six on the second ball of the innings by Munro revealed New Zealand’s aggressive plans, scaring Indian supporters in the process.

But things were far from over. Indian bowlers soon found their rhythm with Bumrah leading the way.

The 3rd T20 between India and New Zealand was unlike any other T20 in recent memory. The match had everything in it: suspense, thrill, disappointment and hope, while constantly battling the lack of time in the match.

The final score of the match was:

India: 67/5 (8)

New Zealand: 61/6(8)

India defeated New Zealand by 6 runs and win the series 2-1.

Indian Twitter clearly didn’t miss out on the enigmatic match. Here are some of the best reactions from the Indian Twitterspace:
