10 Of The World’s Least And Most Corrupt Countries In The Year 2017

Corruption is a given. Because as long as there have been power structures, there have been people who abuse them.

But a corrupt bureaucracy is always indicative of deeper wounds in a nation. An attitude that reflects a lack of oversight as well as limited resources that are only distributed to those who can afford them. Further, corrupt powers are an even greater danger to the press, limiting their freedom and access to information.

Some going so far as to threaten their lives and freedom.

According to the Corruption Perception Index, 2017’s report reflected little change worldwide. The report rates countries based on corruption present in the Public Sector on a score of 0 – 100. 0 being the most corrupt and 100 being the “cleanest”.

2017’s report showed that 2/3rds of the world’s countries had a score lower than 50 which is no change from reports in previous years as well.
