While 2017 Was Rajkummar Rao’s Year, 2018 Could Belong To These Upcoming Talented Actors
Making a film is a team effort. Everyone- starting from the writer, to the producer, to the director, to the actors put in an effort. What also cannot be denied are the efforts of the supporting cast- the men and women who are not the crux of the story, but make their (limited) parts work.
We are hopeful that at least a few of those will be able to break the proverbial glass ceiling and make it big in 2018. Let’s have a look at these talented actors-
Working in your debut Bollywood film opposite the powerhouse of talent that is Irrfan Khan cannot be an enviable task. But Parvathy was tasked with it, and she came out with flying colors. We hope to see more of this talented actress.
#7 Vikrant Massey
Massey had a massive year in 2017, pun intended. His performance was the only shining light in an otherwise terrible Half Girlfriend. Through the year, he gave us memorable performances in films like Death In The Gunj, and Lipstick Under My Burkha.
#6 Sayani Gupta
She stole the show in Jolly LLB 2, and made her mark in the web series Inside Edge. Sayani Gupta has delivered strong performances each time we’ve seen her in a film. It’s time for makers to make the leap and cast her in a lead role because the world knows Hindi films could use more female lead actors.
#5 Vineet Kumar Singh
You may have noticed him in Ugly, Gangs Of Wasseypur, and Bombay Talkies. But he’s finally getting his due in Mukkabaaz, where he’s playing the lead. According to the critics, Vineet Kumar Singh turns in a performance in Mukkabaaz that hasn’t been seen on Indian screens in a long, long time. Vineet also learned boxing at the age of 36 for this role. If 2018 decides to be a fair year, it could well easily belong to the powerhouse of talent called, Vineed Kumar Singh.
#4 Akshay Oberoi
He did start his career with playing lead roles, but with his initial failures, moved to playing unconventional roles. He has proved his talent in films like Gurgaon and Laal Rang, and in web series It’s Not That Simple and Test Case. Will Kaalakandi change his fortunes?
#3 Sobhita Dhulipala
Her talent shone through in Raman Raghav 2.0, and even made a small part in Chef work. Let’s hope she gets more roles. She deserves them.
#2 Aahana Kumra
She did well in both Lipstick Under My Burkha, and in the web series Inside Out. She’s raw, and uninhibited. We may have a glamorous actress who can act, on her hands.
#1 Shashank Arora
Every time you see Shashank Arora on screen, be it Titli, or Lipstick Under My Burkha, or the Netflix film Brahman Naman, his talent screams at you. He will next be seen in Manto, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Now, that’s some good casting.
