Pixar’s Short Film Piper Delivers A Powerful Message In The Most Adorable Way!

Are you a fan of Pixar’s Short Films?
I know I am. They’re so adorable!
And after loving La Luna and Day And Night, we have another one to go all “Awwww…” over!

This one is called, “Piper” and tells the story, without words of course, about a baby sanderling.
This little one is being encouraged by its mum to leave the nest.

At first, being new and uncertain, the sanderling struggles to keep up with the feeding routine and ends up being washed over by the tide. This leaves the baby terrified of water, and of the outside.

That is, until it notices a little hermit crab, and being curious, follows it out onto the shore. Soon, thanks to its new friend, the baby sanderling not only overcomes its fear of the tide but also becomes adept at finding food for the flock and discovers how beautiful it is, underwater.

I think this little film has a big, big message for us all. Piper is an excellent example of simple storytelling and yet it manages to beautifully deal with complex topics like friendship and overcoming one’s fears.

And that’s why I think you should check it out too!

After spending pretty much all of my teen years waiting for a Hogwarts letter that never came, I gave up and settled for being a wizard with words instead. A hopeless romantic, when I’m not penning down short stories, I’m busy imagining my own happily ever after.
