Government Launches A New Video Of National Anthem In Sign Language Featuring Amitabh Bachchan
This August 15th, India happily celebrates its 70th year of Independence and there could be no better gift to the nation than our national anthem being launched in sign language. Union Minister of State, Mahendra Nath Pandey has happily launched a new video of the National Anthem in sign language that features Amitabh Bachchan along with physically challenged children, with the backdrop of the Red Fort.
The government also has addressed the physically challenged as “divyang” and not “viklang” in order to avoid any sort of distinction.
This is a proud moment for us that the National Anthem has been produced in sign language for those who depend on it. We used to refer to people falling in the category as disabled (viklang), but now the government has modified the definition to divyang,”, the Minister of State for Human Resource Development said.
The 3.35-minute video has been directed by Govind Nihalani with Amitabh Bachchan and the children performing the anthem is sign language, a milestone in the history of the country. It is a proud moment as till now only those with sensory gifts could proudly sing the anthem whereas the physically challenged could never perform their country’s national anthem.
This is one of the efforts made to make their survival easier. India is an ancient country and sign language has been used since ancient times,” the minister said.
Let us all be a part of this pride moment and stand up as we watch our nation’s precious little souls perform ‘Jana Gana Mana’ in sign language.
Here’s wishing all our Indian brothers and sisters a very Happy Independence Day!
