Do You Ever Feel Like You’re Not Good Enough?
You’ve always been the first to apologise, even for what you feel,
Wearing that crown of self-blame so well,
Though deep down you knew it wasn’t your fault.
You have moments of doubt every other day, moments it feels like you could disappear,
And the world would be a better place without you.
Or worse, it wouldn’t even notice.
You always wonder why people never seem to stay.
Too scared to look them in the eye for fear that they’ll see your vulnerabilities,
And things will never be the same again.
You’re so hard on yourself, you walk around on eggshells.
Giving so much, yet getting so little,
Less than equal, so you try harder.
Standing in a corner, marking time,
You’ve mastered the art of holding your breath and your words.
You seem to have put a lock on that heart of yours, and dared the world to come break it.
Allow me to remind you then,
That you were too much, and they were too little.
And they couldn’t hold the ocean in their cupped hands, so they feared it.
So how could you have ever believed you’re nothing?
You’ve spent your whole life trying to prove otherwise.
