To Celebrate Independence Day, A Dubai Bakery Made A 54kg Dangal Cake
How would you celebrate Independence Day? Volunteering, or feed homeless? Or perhaps, meet up your friends? But would you order the most expensive cake to represent a movie? To celebrate India’s Independence Day, a client in Dubai requested Broadway Bakery to create a cake which featured a scene from Dangal.
It took cake artists at Broadway Bakery close to a month and over 1,200 man hours to bake the $40,000 (about Rs 25 lakh) cake.
It features Bollywood celebrity Aamir Khan (as Mahavir Singh Phogat) looking on with unwavering conviction as he trains his daughters Geeta and Babita for Olympic greatness.
The bakery said, “The client wanted gold to be generously incorporated into the cake and we fulfilled the request by coating each medal with 75gm of edible gold.”
“The cake is 100% edible and made entirely using sugar fondant, the signature chocolate sponge, ganache, Belgian chocolate, demerara sugar and edible gold. The Signature Chocolate Cake is one of the best tasting gourmet cakes in town,” the bakery company said.
The model is 4 feet tall from the base to the tip of Aamir Khan’s head. The fresh sponge weighs 30kg while the overall weight comes to 54kg.
